Maki Sushi Bake Casserole Recipe

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:


  • 1 lb imitation crab ( you can also use cooked shrimp, salmon, or canned tuna)

  • 1 medium size Cucumber thinly sliced

  • 2 Mango thinly sliced

  • Furikake rice seasoning flakes

  • Japanese red pepper seasoning mix (optional)

  • wasabi ( optional)

  • Masago (orange fish roe) (optional)

  • Nori sheet (seaweed)

  • 1/2 cup best food mayonaise or any brand of your choice

  • 4 oz philadelpia cream cheese (optional)

  • 1/2 cup daisy sour cream (optional)

  • kewpie japanese mayo


HERE’S WHAT TO DO:


  • Cook rice in rice cooker. When done cooking, transfer rice to mixing bowl and mix with 4tbsp rice vinegar, 2 tbsp sugar , and 1tsp salt and 1 tsp sesame oil

  • Set aside to cool. 

  • In a separate bowl, combine imitation crab with mayonnaise cream cheese, cucumber and mango.

  • Assemble the casserole by layering the sushi rice halfway in an 8×8 pan/ baking dish.

  • Sprinkle Furikake seasoning flakes and japanese red peper mix over the rice.

  • Top with nori seaweed sheet.

  • Spread the rest of the crab, mango, cucumber mayo mixture on top of the nori sheet.

  • Sprinkle more furikake seasoning, japanese red pepper mix and Masago on top of the entire dish. 

  • Optional - Drizzle with kewpie japanese mayo, or quickmelt cheese and siracha for a spicy kick.

  • Bake at 375 °F for 15 minutes or broil for a few minutes using conventional oven or toaster until the top is browned.

  • Serve with Nori & enjoy! We love to eat it with a fork or put a slice of the sushi bake on top of the nori seewead wrap and dip in a sushi or maki sauce with wasabi and eat like a roll.
